Discovery Update:

Over the past two years our church has been doing a lot of dreaming. Your youth ministry staff have joined in on the fun! We are always trying to listen, learn, and lead a ministry that best connects our current students to our world’s current needs. During our recent discernment we have decided to make big changes to one of our longest standing retreats, Discovery.

We want to re-imagine Discovery retreat to be more middle school focused, a fun and adventurous weekend, and connect deeply with one another and our wider church community. We also have decided that this retreat would be better suited to connect our middle schoolers earlier in the school year, in the hopes of deeper relationships all year long. Discovery Retreat 2025 will now be a fall kick off event (tentatively scheduled for Sept 26-28), middle school only, and primed to be a deeply connectional experience!

We know this will be a change for our high school leaders and especially for our senior communicators and leaders. Tonight at youth group our youth ministry staff met with our seniors specifically to share this news and dream of new things together. We also shared this update with the rest of our ministry. With this change to Discovery, we are excited to start a new closing series at youth group this year called Legacy, where we will invite our seniors to lead in big, new ways. Be on the lookout for those updates.

We thank you for your support and joining us in welcoming the future of Discovery here at Edenton Street UMC!
