Ruth Sheets Adult Care center
A Place to Belong, Thrive, and Be Celebrated
The Ruth Sheets Adult Care Center provides a warm, person-centered community where older adults maintain their independence, connect with others, and experience joy in their daily lives.
About Our Center
For over 30 years, the Ruth Sheets Adult Care Center has been a home away from home for older adults in the Raleigh community. We're more than just a day program - we're a vibrant community where seniors are valued, their stories matter, and every day brings opportunities for connection, engagement, and growth.
Located in the heart of downtown Raleigh at Edenton Street United Methodist Church, our state-licensed Adult Social/Health Day Program serves individuals facing the challenges of aging, Alzheimer's, dementia, and other chronic conditions. With a high staff-to-participant ratio, we provide personalized care that honors each person's unique life experiences, interests, and strengths.
What Makes Us Different:
Person-Centered Care: We build our programs around who you are, not just what you need
Experienced, Compassionate Team: Social workers, nurses, CNAs, dieticians, and trained caregivers who truly care
Affordable Excellence: Our rates are significantly lower than assisted living or nursing homes
Over 30 Years of Service: Licensed by NC DHHS since 1991
Convenient Downtown Location: Easy access with the support of our church community

Comprehensive Care
Our healthcare program goes beyond supervision - we actively partner with you and your loved one's medical team to ensure continuity of care and optimal health outcomes.
Our Health Care Approach:
Initial Assessment: Every potential enrollee meets with our nurse for a thorough assessment and review of medical and social history. We take time to understand the whole person.
Individualized Care Plans: We develop personalized care plans focused on maintaining and improving each participant's ability to complete Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and preserve their independence.
Ongoing Monitoring: Our interdisciplinary team continuously observes participants throughout the day, noting changes in status and adjusting care as needed.
Professional Coordination: We communicate directly with doctors, physical therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless, coordinated care.
Regular Re-evaluation: Care plans are routinely reviewed and updated to meet changing needs.
Our Care Team Includes:
Licensed Nurses (RN/LPN)
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
Social Workers
Registered Dietician
Experienced, certified caregivers
All staff members complete professional certification and continuing education in First Aid, CPR, Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia, and other progressive conditions.
