Lent at ESUMC

As we enter into the Lenten season, we look forward to the opportunity of more intentionally journeying together with Jesus through the wilderness.  In fostering our community’s journey, we will live into a unique weekly rhythm across Lent’s five weeks focused each week on experiencing God’s transforming grace through various Christian practices.  This is how you can live into the rhythm starting this Sunday when we embrace the practice of daily examen:

  • Sunday Centering: A brief service of homily, prayer, and song that grounds our life of practice in God’s Living Word
  • Monday Resourcing: A practical guide for making the week’s practice relevant within your context
  • Wednesday Live At Noon: A conversation with a member of our community in how they are experiencing God in the practice
  • Friday – Encouragement to live not for self, but sacrificially by giving $1 a day for 40 days to help our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness

We are offering Lenten packets (for both adults and children) that include printed versions of of the five practices that will guide our community across the next five weeks.  The packets are found just outside the doors of the Curtis Center (under the roundabout).  You can also find a digital version of the practices guide below.

We also have images for every week that you can download and set as the wallpaper on your mobile phone. For instructions on how to set a wallpaper on your phone, see this article.
