Parents Praying
The children and youth of ESUMC are a vital, involved and energetic part of our ESUMC family! The "Parents Praying" group supports our children and youth, their programs and the leaders of their programs by lifting them up in prayer. This group meets on Sunday evenings from 5:00 P.M. - 5:45 P.M. in the Chapel. Everyone is invited to join us for this special time of prayer! Childcare is provided. If you would like more information, please contact Kirsten Wheeler at 919-852-0558 or send e-mail .
Daily Prayer for Pastors
Volunteers are asked to pray for the pastors on an assigned day each month. They can pray at a time and place that is convenient for them on that particular day. The church needs to pray for its pastors so the power of the Holy Spirit continues to strengthen them spiritually, mentally, physcially, and emotionally as they serve and lead our church. If you would like to be assigned a day, e-mail Lynne.
Laity Prayer Warriors
Volunteers commit to pray in the senior pastor's office at 8:30 a.m. and/or 10:40 a.m. before the worship services. This prayer time invites the power of the Holy Spirit to cover our worship, worship leaders, and all worshippers. These prayers of encouragement and support are invaluable to our church. The presence of these prayer warriors alone is such a support to our clergy. Come join us and bring your family. For questions or more information, e-mail Franklin.
Up-Lifters
Up-lifters are servant leaders who pray on an on-going basis for the church leaders and church committees. They are assigned one committee and staff person to support in prayer for one year. Their continuing prayers for God's guidance is vital to our mission of sharing Christ from the heart of Raleigh. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity by serving as an up-lifter for one of our committees, e-mail Michael.
Troop Ministry
Several prayer warriors pray on an ongoing basis for our men and women in the military. Also, at least once a quarter, these volunteers write words of encouragement and ship care packages to individuals serving in harm's way. As we continue to face challenges on the battlefields abroad, we will continue to offer prayers of support for our service men and women and their families. If you would like to help support our troops, please e-mail Cecilia.
Lydia's Prayer Warriors
Lydia's prayer group is an intercessory prayer group which meets every Wednesday from 10:00-11:00a.m. in room 313. Prayer requests are received from pew pocket prayer request cards, e-mails and phone calls and these requests are prayed over for 2 months. Commitment, compassion, confidentiality and the power of the Holy Spirit has kept this group in ministry for over 22 years. God's promise of answered prayers has richly blessed many people. To join this group of prayer warriors, e-mail Mildred.
Emergency Prayer Chain
From time to time there is an urgent need for immediate prayer. members of our congregation volunteer to be "on call" for these times of need. Anyone with an emergency prayer request can call the church office or any of the members of the prayer chain. The person receiving the request immediately lifts up the situaltion in prayer and then calls the next person on the prayer chain. That process is repeated until all members of the prayer chain have been contacted. This ministry is a huge comfort to many in our congregation. If you would like the opportunity to serve God as part of the emergency prayer chain, please e-mail Cindy.
Prayer Vigils
Prayer vigils are planned about once a year to seek God's guidance and provision to further our church and its ministries. These are usually planned for a certain day and time with prayer guides provided. Information is also provided for shut-ins as well as for sight-impaired individuals. Volunteers are needed to prepare materials and man the sanctuary during the time of the prayer vigil. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to support the church by your prayers and presence by helping with the prayer vigils e-mail Cindy.
Lighthouse Prayers
Each week in the Communicator, a volunteer provides a scripture to appear on the top right hand corner of the front page. We invite you to use this scripture to guide your prayers the church and its ministries. These reflective passages of scripture can also be used to enhance your faith walk or to help someone else get through their week.
