Pastoral Care Reminder
Pastoral visits to our church members are dependent upon the patient’s consent and personal notification of ESUMC. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) makes it illegal to give out patient information without the patient’s consent. If a church member does not give permission, the hospital or healthcare facility may not disclose that you are hospitalized. Please be sure to notify the Pastors’ Assistant or a Minister of your hospitalization, or request a family member or friend to do so on your behalf. Our church pastoral care center is located adjacent to the ministers’ offices. We will maintain the list of hospitalized members, births, and other special family information of those who have given their consent.
A member may also choose to notify the church office and elect not to be listed publicly on the pastoral care board. Members can also notify the church office and request their names to be placed on the prayer list. Our clergy and staff respect the privacy of our church members.
